Tough AUCKLAND REACTOR mare Whata Reactor sent her earnings to just shy of the $50,000 mark when she scored a last stride win at Redcliffe on Wednesday night (July 14).
Starting from the back row, the five-year-old settled down midfield in the running line before being sent forward three-wide to race upsides with the leader at the bell.
Despite the torrid passage, Whata Reactor dug deep in the dying stages to snatch victory by half a neck.
The mile rate for the 1780 metres was 2:01.
Whata Reactor, who has now won nine races, hold a record of 1:56.2.
Bred by Bernie and Catherine Hewitt, she is the richest and fastest of four winners thrown by the Armbro Operative mare Narnie.
