Talented AUCKLAND REACTOR five-year-old Brookies Jaffa completed back-to-back successes when he came from absolute last to win at Cambridge Raceway, New Zealand on Friday night (June 25).
Eased off the mobile arm at the start, the gelding settled down at the tail of the six-horse field.
Tipped three deep on straightening, Brookies Jaffa let down with a brilliant finishing flourish to prevail in the last bound.
The mile rate for the 2200 metres was a career-best 1:57.3. He clocked 57.3 seconds for the final 800.
Brookies Jaffa has now won five races and $41,175 in stakes.
Bred by Tony Armstrong, the gelding is out of the Anerican-bred Brookmaker (by Artisape), who has left seven winners including four in 2:00.
Unfazed, a four-year-old gelding by AUCKLAND REACTOR, also hoisted a fresh lifetime mark when he outfinished his opposition at Addington.
He rated 1:59.7 over 2600 metres with the last 800 in 58.5 under a hold.
Bred and raced by Sheldon Murtha, Unfazed is the first foal from Blaze Of Glory (by American Ideal).
In Australia, the AUCKLAND REACTOR mare Atomic Bombshell led throughout over 1660 metres at Albion Park.
The five-year-old rated 1:58.9 with the last 800 in 58.8.
She has now won six races and almost $40,000.
