Blue Blazer NZ, a six-year-old son of AUCKLAND REACTOR, became the latest member of the ‘$100,000 Club’ when he outfinished his rivals at Gloucester Park on Friday night (June 18).
Worse than midfield on settling down, the gelding gained a three-wide trail in the back straight.
Switched four deep on straightening, Blue Blazer let down with a brilliant finishing flourish to swep past his opposition in the dying stages.
The mile rate for the 2130 metres was 1:59.2 with the final 800 in 57.3 seconds.
It was his 13th lifetime success and his second at the Perth headquarters’ track for the month.
Bred by Harvey Kaplan, Blue Blazer is out of the Jereme’s Jet mare Jet Spirit, the dam also of Melton winner Tinder Surprise (1:55.4). He is the first foal of his dam.
Meanwhile, Wrecking Ball, a four-year-old AUCKLAND REACTOR gelding, notched his second success at Invercargill, New Zealand on Saturday (June 19).
The gelding showed explosive speed to lead from the No 5 gate, handed up midrace, then sprinted brilliantly along the rails to gain the verdict.
The mile rate for the 2200 metres was 2:00.8 with the last in 58.3.
Wrecking Ball is the second foal and only winner from the unraced Bettor’s Delight mare It’s A Delight.
