Talented AUCKLAND REACTOR four-year-old Last Of The Mohicans further underlined his potential with a convincing win at Addington on Friday night (April 30).
After settling down in sixth position, driver Ricky May, taking advantage of the dawdling tempo, sooled him to the top at the bell and he was never in danger of defeat thereafter.
He scored by 1-1/2 lengths under a hold.
The mile rate for the 1980 metres was a career-best 2:00 including a last 800 in 57.4 and 400 in 27.9.
Last Of The Mohicans has won four of his eight starts to date.
The gelding is out of Jaclyn Del, a seven-win Frugal Gourmet mare who has left five winners.
Last Of The Mohicans is her eighth and last foal.
In Australia, Coveffe Hustler, a five-year-old daughter of AUCKLAND REACTOR, took full advantage of a perfect trip to outsprint her rivals at Hobart.
She clocked 1:58.9 for the flying mile.
It was her eighth success and she has now earned in excess of $60,000.
Bred by Andrew Daniels, Coveffe Hustler is from the Mystical Shark mare New Mythology NZ (1:58.8), the dam of an earlier winner in Zoemagic (1:58.8).
