Highly promising AUCKLAND REACTOR five-year-old The Banker came from last to notch his fifth win for the season and earn a new speed badge of 1:57.5 at Cambridge Raceway, New Zealand on Thursday (March 18).
Angled three deep at the 600 metre mark, the gelding exploded to the front soon after straightening and comfortably staved off the swoopers.
He clocked 58.7 for the final 800 and 28.6 for the closing 400.
The winner of $36,000 in stakes, The Banker is out of the unraced Christian Cullen mare Mikana, and is her only winner from four foals.
In Australia, the AUCKLAND REACTOR mare Shereacts sat parked throughout before winning her second race at Redcliffe.
The four-year-old rated a career-best 1:59.2 over 1780 metres.
Bred and raced by Denise Hellyer, Shereacts is from the good Presidential Ball mare Shechoseus 1:55.8 ($99,870) and is her first offspring.
