Classy AUCKLAND REACTOR three-year-old Congo Line made it three wins from four starts when he outstayed his rivals at Mount Gambier on Tuesday night (November 24).
Starting from the No 5 gate, the brown gelding was trapped three-wide early before being sent forward to sit parked at the end of the first lap.
Despite his somewhat torrid passage, Congo Line pulled out plenty in the closing stages to gradually overhaul the leader and scored by 4.4 metres.
The mile rate for the 1780 metres was 1:58.5.
He clocked the final 800 in 55.6 – a slick time on the saucer-shaped track.
Bred and raced by Peter and Lesley Medhurst, Congo Line is out of the race-winning Highview Congo NZ (by McArdle), the dam also of Beat The Drums 1:56.7 (7 wins).
